Death Trap : Summit Backyard Safari Deluxe Wet And Dry Habitat

I wish I had looked at the reviews for this and the older style one before buying at walmart. I bought this for my son for his birthday. First of all the tadpole(yes only one) is not free. Its 7.99 for shipping and handling, and it can take 6 months to receive.

But the worst part is the habitat itself is a death trap to every animal we put in it. We followed the directions, but the liner doesn't fit right and is so slick the animals can't get out of it. Even my sons healthy adult salamander drowned. Also everything we tried to put in there to feed him went crawling under the pond liner and died. Yuck. The thing constantly stunk. We tried taking the liner out and cleaning the whole thing but you can't get into the stump to clean the feces and if you try to rinse it out, it ends up between the outer plastic and the land and won't come out even with a sprayer. Yuck again.

Also, it seemed there might be something wrong with the plastic used for the liner, as the water went foul within a day every time we filled it even after we disinfected the entire thing. We even tried leaving the lid off to let more air in.

I would not recommend this product at all. It was a waste of money, spoiled my sons birthday, and made him cry when the animals died.
